-
After giving a thought to the matter he started writing a letter to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
-
It has started to rain."
Lucy started/continued/ceased while in hospital. (CGEL, p. 1192)
第一,在某些有限的情况下,start to do 中的 to do 表示“潜在的可能”(potentiality),而 start doing 中的 doing 表示“实际进行”(performance):
He started to speak, but stopped because she objected.
He started speaking, and kept on for more than an hour. (CGEL, p. 1192)
He began (started)
-
Tomorrow I start to work. (London)
-
The little girl started to cry when she saw a dog coming to her.
