may/can/could

在请求允许时,使用 could 或 might 比使用 can 或 may 显得更有礼貌,但是,在表示允许某人做某事时,通常使用 can 或 may 以及其他词语。

1. 'Could I use your phone?' —— 'Yes, of course you can.' (PEU) “我可以用一下你的电话吗?”“当然可以。”

2. ——Could I borrow your dictionary? ——Yes, of course you ____.
   A. might B. will C. can D. should(全国高考,92-12)

3. A: May I go with you? B: You may. You may not. (EGS)

A: 我可以跟你去吗？ B: 你可以去。你不可以去。

4. “May I leave this with you?” “Yes, you may.” “我可以把这个东西留在你这里吗?” “是的，你可以(留下)。”

但是，应注意，在这种情况下，也可以使用you could。例如：

A: Could I see you tomorrow, then? B: Yes, (I think) you could. (EGS)

这就是说,上题的选项 B(could)也同样是正确的。
