语法书规定,如果 evening,morning,afternoon 前加 Sunday,Monday...并充当时间状语的话,则应加介词 on,例如,on Sunday evening (ALD)。但是,我从英文原著中却读到过这样的句子:

在正式语体里，当 Sunday evening 充当时间状语时，是需要加介词 on 的。例如，

上面两个句子都是正确的。它们之间的差别仅仅在于:句(2)常常用于非正式语体,而且比较常见,尤其是在美国英语中。对于下列几组句子可以作同样的解释:
