family/home/house

family虽然也译作“家”，但它指的是家庭成员，如父母、子女、妻子、丈夫、兄妹等，一般不涉及房屋：

1. How many people are there in your family? 你们家有几口人？

2. My family are all fond of reading books. 我们家人都喜欢读书。

house 是指居住的建筑物(房屋、住宅), 可以购买、出租或出售:

1. He has bought a house in London. 他在伦敦买了一幢房子。

2. Our house is number 95, Garden Street. 我们家在花园街 95 号。

home 是家庭成员所居住的那种环境或与房屋有关的“家”：

1. They have a charming home in London. 他们在伦敦有一个可爱的家。

2. He left home at the age of sixteen. 他十六岁离开了家。

3. She gave up her job and stayed at home to care for her children. 她放弃了工作，留在家里照看孩子们。

4. East, west, home is best. 金窝、银窝，不如自家的草窝。

[附注]在美国英语中,home 有时也作“房子”“房屋”(house)解。
