advice ²

如同 advise, require, request, demand, decide, order, insist 等动词要求其宾语从句使用现在时虚拟式 (be 型虚拟语气) 一样, 它们的名词的同位语从句或表语从句也要求使用现在时虚拟式。在英国英语中则大都使用 should + 动词原形:

1. His sole requirement was that the system work. 他的唯一要求是该系统要发挥作用。

2. We were faced with the demand that this tax be abolished. 我们面临着取消这种税收的要求。

具有这种语法特征的名词还有: decision, resolution, suggestion 等等。

1. Our decision is that the school remain closed. 我们的决定是学校继续关闭。

2. The orders are that we stay here. 命令要求我们停留在这里。

3. He gave orders that the work should be started at once. 他命令立即开始工作。

4. The resolution that women be allowed to join the society was carried. 容许妇女加入协会的决议已经执行了。
