The second step of the scientific method may be the formulation of such a general hypothesis. Or it may be an attempt to explain phenomena by theorizing the existence of a deeper reality. 以上三个译本都将 theorize 译成了“推理”，但我认为这种译法并不符合原意。请分析。
上面的三个译本之所以将 theorize 译成了“推理”，是因为《新英汉辞典》、《远东英汉大辞典》等辞书均在 theorize 词条下给出了“推理”这种译法。但是，theorize 的真正含义却是“建立理论”“提出假说”（to form a theory 或 to form a theory about, to hypothesize）（见 WNCD）。EED 解释说：If you theorize about something, you develop ideas about it in order to try and explain it. 请看下面的例子：
