report sb. / report to sb.

两个结构所表达的意思完全不同。report sb. 是指“告发某人”，report to sb. 是指“向某人报告”。请对比下列实例：

1. He reported the student for misconduct. (FWF) 他告发那个学生行为不端。

2. You should have reported them to the police. (EED) 你本应当向警察告发他们的。

3. He came and reported it direct to me. (Du Maurier) 他来直接向我报告那件事。
