not as...as/not so...as

在现代英语里, not as... as 与 not so... as 都被看作是正确的。不必推崇一个, 而否定另一个。请观察下面的实例:

1. Anna is not $\$left\{\begin{aligned}as\\ so\end{aligned}\right\} tall as John. (CGEL) 安娜不如约翰高。

2. Soames is not as/not so suitable for the job as me/as I am. (PEG) 索姆斯不如我适合这项工作。
