accident 往往指“偶然的事故”,尤其是不幸的事故:

  1. I had an accident when I was driving to workmy car hit a tree. 我开车上班时出了事故——我的汽车撞在树上了。

  2. There has been a road accident. 发生了一起交通事故。

incident 则是指“不好的或异乎寻常的事件”,可能是大事件,也可能是小事件。
