从形式上看, more superior than 符合 more beautiful than 这种构成形容词比较级的结构。但是, 有些来自拉丁语的形容词, 如 superior, junior, major, senior, inferior, prior, anterior, posterior, 它们本身常常隐含着比较意义, 因此不能在它们前面再加 more, 又由于它们并不真正地表示比较, 故不能用在有明确比较意义的 than 结构中。请看下面的例句:
