两个用法都是正确的,但是意义不同。例(1)的意思是“100个学生”,例(2)的意思是“这些学生之中的100人”。这就是说,这两个结构的用法是不同的:当表示不确定指的人或事物时,使用two(three,five,etc.)score people(boxes)或two(three,five,etc.)score of people(boxes),当表示确定指的人或事物之中若干score时,使用two(three,five,etc.)score of the people(boxes)。
但是, scores 必须与 of 短语连用, 意为“很多的”, 另外, a score 也常与 of 短语连用, 意为 “(大约)20” 或 “很多的”:
