next week 和 the following week 都作“下(一)周”解,不知它们之间有无区别。
next week (month, year) 可以指从某个过去时间点算起的“下一周(月,年)”（即以过去为时间参照点），也可以指从现在算起的“下一周(月,年)”（即以现在为时间参照点），而 the following 则只能指从过去某个点算起的“下一周(月,年)”。因此之故，当直接引语改为间接引语时，通常要将 next week 改为 the following week：
He said, “I shall go to town next week.” 他说：“我下星期去镇上。”
He said he would go to town the following week. 他说他将于下星期去镇上。
