not usually(generally, normally)

一般地说,位于否定词 not 之后的副词(always, often, quite, frequently)大都是句子的否定中心,亦即与 not 连用,构成部分否定。

1. Eclipses can not be often seen in every part of the world. 日蚀和月蚀在世界各地并不是常常都能看到的。

2. The book is not quite what it should be. 这本书并不很理想。

如果把副词 always, often, frequently 放在否定范围之外, 在意思上就会发生很大的变化。

[a) Forces do not always produce movement. 力并不总是能引起运动。

b) Always, forces do not produce movement. 力总是不能引起运动。

a) He doesn't frequently speak from notes. 他讲话时并不经常看笔记。

b) Often he doesn't speak from notes. 他讲话时经常不看笔记。

但是, usually 却是个例外, 它放在否定范围之内或放在否定范围之外, 在意义上并没有什么区别。

通常他不吃药。

2. I don't usually have to work on Sundays. 通常我在星期天不必工作。

3. We don't usually get up before nine on Sundays. 星期日我们通常不在9点以前起床。

4. We usually don't get up before nine on Sundays. 星期日我们通常不在9点以前起床。所以,所提问的句子可以译为:

“火车通常不在那里停车。”

generally 和 normally 与 usually 的情况是相似的：

1. Unlike will, be going to is not generally used in the clause superordinate to a conditional clause. 与 will 不同, be going to 一般不用在带有条件从句的主句之中。

2. Would care is not normally used in the affirmative... (PEG) Would care 通常不用于肯定句中……

3. It normally doesn't include one word about probability as a mode of reasoning or as a basis for comparing several alternative conclusions. 它(数学)通常毫不涉及作为推理方式或作为多种选择结论比较基础的概率。
