agree on ¹

有些语法学家把动词 + 介词的结构(如 look at, look after, agree on, agree to)看作是一个整体,就像是及物动词一样。这种解释使我们能很容易理解这类介词动词(prepositional verbs)的被动形式(动词 + 介词乃是一个整体)(参见 look at $^{1}$ ):

1. She looked after her son. → Her son was looked after by her. 她照看她的儿子。→她的儿子由她照看。

2. They agreed on the building of a new car factory last month. →The building of a new car factory was agreed on last month. 他们上月已就建造一家新汽车厂的事宜达成了协议。→建造一家新汽车厂之事已于上月达成协议。

3. We agreed on the question. $\$rightarrow The question was agreed on. 我们对这个问题取得了一致意见。 $\$rightarrow 这个问题已取得了一致意见。

从上例可以看出,主动句中介词动词(look after, agree on)的宾语或者(如另一派语法学家所说的)介词的宾语(her son, the building, the question)在被动句中已变成了主语,因此介词(after, on)就再无权支配其他词了。再如:

Your teacher must be listened to carefully. 必须细心地听老师讲课。
