a search for/of

在名词 search(搜寻、寻找、探求)之后大都跟介词 for:

1. The search for the little girl went on all day. (JED) 寻找小女孩的活动进行了一整天。

2. The search for the missing man has not been successful. (Palmer) 搜寻那个失踪的人的行动未获成功。

3. The police are making a search for the missing woman. (Crowell) 警方正在寻找这名失踪的妇女。

但是,在名词 search 之后也可使用介词 of:
