ask

对于学生来说,可以把 ask(sb.) sth. 和 ask(sb.) about sth. 看作是基本含义相同的两个结构。上句中的 asked(me) about 也可以写作 asked(me),请看下面的实例:

1. She asked an old man the way to the station. 她向一位老者问去火车站的路。

2. Did you ask the price? 你问价钱了吗？

3. I asked the guard the time of the train's departure. 我向警卫问火车开车的时间。

4. Mrs. Wilmot asked me about the children. 威尔莫特夫人向我询问孩子们的情况。

5. Visitors usually ask about the history of the place. 访问者通常询问此地的历史情况。

6. She asked about his new job. 她打听有关他新职务的事。

[附注]英语教师应当注意,ask(sb.) sth.与ask(sb.) about sth.有时候在语义上是有差别的。ask(sb.) sth.结构中的直接宾语表示说话人提出并且要求对方给予回答的问题,而ask(sb.) about sth.结构中的介词宾语只是表示询问的有关的方面,而没有表明要求回答的

ask (sb.) about sth. 大都可以改写为 ask (sb.) a question(questions) about sth.。

1. She asked me about Welsh history. (她问了关于威尔士历史的问题。)→She asked me a question about Welsh history. (译文同上)

2. People are always asking me questions about my work. 人们总是问我关于我工作的事。由此可以看出，下列例句中的 about 不可省略：

Newspaper reporters have been asking about the missing child all day. 一整天,新闻记者都在询问有关失踪小孩的情况。
