《英语惯用法大词典》(北京科学技术出版社,1994,p.1274)说:“在 next Monday, next week, next month, next summer, next May, next year, next Christmas, next term 等词组中不加定冠词。如：
When I telephone you next time, I shall tell you about it."
但是,下面句子里的 the next year 不知如何解释:
In 1855 he was 46; the next year he was 47. (LDCE)
1855 年他四十六岁，第二年他四十七岁。

绝不要认为 next week, next year, next month, next term 等短语永远不带定冠词。实际上，上列短语有时带定冠词，有时不带定冠词。按照英语惯用法，当以现在为时间参照点来谈论“下周”“下月”“明年”……时，上列短语均不带定冠词，但是，当以过去某个时间点或将来某个时间点为背景来谈论 next week (month, year, term) 时，则既可以带定冠词，也可以不带定冠词。例句见 next week/the next week。
