看到一个中译本将 the second floor 译作“第三层”。为什么要将 second 译作“第三”呢？又，floor 与 storey 有什么区别？
在英国英语里，一楼叫做 the ground floor，二楼叫做 the first floor，三楼叫做 the second floor，以此类推，而在美国英语里，一楼叫做 the first floor，二楼叫做 the second floor，三楼叫做 the third floor，以此类推。因此，在翻译和使用时，应分清是英国英语还是美国英语。
floor 与 storey 主要有以下区别：
A. 当说“住在第几层”或“……位于第几层”时,大都使用 floor,较少使用 storey(美国英语为 story)。例如:
