Subsequently a chain of nuclear power stations was planned. Of necessity they are sited near the coasts or tidal water because of the need of much water for cooling and a certain discharge of possible radioactive effluent. (New Concept Englsih, Book 4, L. 43)
根据 ALD 和 COD 的解释,of necessity = as a matter of necessity; unavoidably; logically(必然地,必定;不得已;不可避免地)。例如:
With the spring festival coming soon, the traffic will of necessity become heavier.
of one's own 见 own
of the day 见 day(of the day)
of which/which... of 见 about
of which/whose 见 whose/of which
of which the details
It was an agreement of which the details could not be altered.
of which the details 是否系 the details of which 之误?
上面的 of which the details 是符合英语语法的。
the investigation of which the results will be soon published... (CGEL)
但是,这种结构不如 whose results(主要用于非正式语体)和 the results of which 常用。
