有的英语语法著作上说，在现代英语里 no more 已经不用于指时间以表示“不再”的意思。
确实有这种说法。但是，R.Quirk等人在最近出版的CGEL中，却肯定了no more表示时间上“不再”的用法，只是强调no more是正式用法：
I see him no more/no longer. (formal) 我不能再看到他了。在其他英语著作里也不难找到这种用法：

We saw him no more. (ALD, 1988) 我们再没有看到他。

He still smoked, but he drank no more. (London) 他仍吸烟，但不再喝酒了。

She insisted that he must go out no more until he was cured. (Bennet) 她坚持他只有在康复之后才能出去。
但是，应当承认，在现代英语里，表达这个意思最自然的用法是 not...any more(longer):

I do not see him any more/any longer. (CGEL) 我不能再看到他了。

I did not feel sick any more. 我不再感到恶心了。

We couldn't stand it any more. 我们再也不能忍受了。
