These peaches are good and ripe.
这是不是说 good and + adj. 与 nice and + adj.
虽然 CGEL 等英语著作把 good and ... 与 nice and ...
T. Wood 在 Current English Usage (p. 178) 中指出,nice and + adj. 用于强调形容词令人愉快的性质(the pleasant quality): nice and warm, nice and cool, nice and clean, nice and tidy 等等。
-
She won't drink coffee if it's not good and hot.
-
Jack knew good and well that Tom had thrown the snowball at him.
-
Susan wouldn't come out till she was good and ready.
-
It'll be good and dark.
-
She was good and angry.
-
John's father was good and mad when John came home late.
